Carnton Plantation

A few weeks ago my mom visited Carnton Plantation in Franklin, TN.  She visited there because we had both read the book Widow of the South by Robert Hicks.  The setting for the book is Carnton Plantation.  If you have not read the book it is a wonderful read.  My book club read it 5 years ago and it was voted the best book we read that year.  Here are a few of the pictures my mom took that I wanted to share with all of you.

This is a picture of the back of the house.  This house served as a field hospital following the Battle of Franklin on November 30, 1864.

The following pictures are of the Confederate Cemetery on the grounds.

Sadly they would not let pictures be taken inside the house at Carnton Plantation, but I am sure the inside of the house would make us all swoon.

If you are looking for a great read, look no more.  This is a fabulous book and the story will touch your heart.  Thanks for taking the time to stop by my blog today.  Hope all of you have a great weekend.

  1. I've been to that house and it is hauntingly beautiful, but you can feel the events that happened so long ago, especially when you see the blood stains that are still in the wood floors. The book is a wonderful read, I agree.
